The Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system recognises and records the registrations of all vehicles entering or leaving a site, while displaying the number plate. CCTV cameras can record all other site activity, which can be viewed and controlled from a single location.
From the LPR/ANPR point of view the image quality is always the key factor. Capturing fast moving vehicles requires a special technique to avoid motion blur, as this can reduce the recognition accuracy dramatically. To ensure the right image quality, short shutter time should be used in combination with high-power illumination.
Undetectable to the human eye, IR offers the best illumination, as retro-reflective plates provide consistently good quality images throughout the day and night.
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras can be integrated with vehicle barriers, automatic gates and bollards to improve the overall security for control personnel and users.
Only dedicated ANPR cameras meet these requirements - normal CCTV cameras are NOT ANPR cameras.
ANPR is commonly used for:
- Petrol stations
- Airports and ports
- Building sites
- Business, office and industrial
- Car parks
- Cinemas, theatres, concert halls
- Offices and buildings
- Staff car parks
- Motorways - traffic flow
- Railway & Bus stations
- Retail environment
- Sports and leisure complexes
Design & Installation
The initial design is critical for ANPR to work correctly. Following our site visit we will design a suitable system that meets your requirements and budget. A full detailed specification will be supplied in accordance with our SSAIB accreditation.
We can integrate the ANPR system into access control systems and CCTV Cornwall. This will provide a complete security system that can be managed in one place.
Trelawney Fire & Security can maintain and service most ANPR systems, even if we didn’t originally install them. Contact us for further details.
